We were delighted to welcome LiG Tydskrif to 5th Avenue Gooseberry Guesthouse for a very special photoshoot featuring well-known actor Hykie Berg and his wife, Gerridene Berg, a lifestyle coach with a heart for restoration.
The photoshoot, captured for “LiG se Winter/Pinkster-uitgawe,” brought a warm and soulful energy to our charming guesthouse. With its eclectic décor, lush garden spaces, and peaceful ambiance, 5th Avenue Gooseberry was the perfect backdrop for this inspiring couple’s story—a story of hope, healing, and living with purpose.
In the latest issue—now available in stores nationwide—Hykie and Gerridene share openly about their calling to help people find hope and wholeness. As LiG beautifully puts it, “Verwarm ons inhoud jou hart, siel en verstand”—this edition is designed to warm the heart, soul, and mind. And it does just that through the testimony of the Bergs, who are passionate about walking alongside others on their journeys of healing and restoration.
“We’re so honoured that LiG chose Gooseberry as their setting,” says Susan Berry, owner and founder of the guesthouse. “We’ve always believed that our space carries a certain calm and charm—something that encourages openness, storytelling, and connection. Seeing that come to life through this photoshoot was truly special.”
Of course, 5th Avenue Gooseberry is no stranger to the spotlight. For an incredible 11 years, the guesthouse was the accommodation of choice for the Top 10 Idols SA finalists, offering a serene haven to some of South Africa’s most talented young performers. From 15–17 August, Susan Berry herself will be presenting “Triek jou Triggers” at the guesthouse—an intimate and transformative experience designed to help women awaken their world from within. In the very space where beauty, purpose, and healing meet, guests will be invited to explore their inner landscape and discover new ways to live freely and authentically.
